# What is MySpec?

MySpec is the **AI Architect for developers**. It interviews you about what you
want to build, then writes implementation-ready specification files, one file
at a time, that you and your AI coding agent can build from.

## How it works

1. **Start with an idea**

A sentence is enough. Create a project and describe what you want to build,
or point MySpec at an existing codebase.
2. **Answer a short interview**

The AI asks focused questions, many of them multiple choice, to capture what
you actually want: goals, users, constraints and trade-offs.
3. **Review each spec file**

MySpec writes the specs in stages. The default workflow produces a
   **constitution** (your project's non-negotiables), **requirements**,
a **solution** (the technical blueprint) and **tasks** (an ordered work plan).
You review each file before the next one is written.
4. **Build from the specs**

Download the finished bundle, or connect your AI coding agent to MySpec over
MCP so it can read the specs directly.

## Where to go next

- [Quickstart](/get-started/quickstart/) — Create your first project and spec in about ten minutes.
- [Connect your coding agent](/mcp/) — Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients access to your specs.
- [API tokens](/mcp/api-tokens/) — Long-lived tokens for servers, containers and CI.
- [Open MySpec](https://app.myspec.dev) — Sign in to the MySpec app.
